SFS — shoutout for shoutout, also written S4S — is the oldest cross-promotion tactic on OnlyFans and still one of the most effective. Two creators post about each other; each one’s fans see the other’s page. Done with the right partner it brings subscribers who have already proven they pay for content. Here is how it works, what a proper SFS exchange contains, and how to get a yes from creators you want to trade with.
What SFS is and why it works
In an SFS you swap promo posts with another creator: they promote you on their page, you promote them on yours. The reason it outperforms most social media promotion is simple — the audience is already on OnlyFans with a payment method attached. There is no funnel to build.
It works far better when the two creators are similar: fans tend to have a type, and a shoutout from a creator in your niche converts much better than one from a random account. SFS also works best once you have some subscribers of your own, because most creators have requirements for a trade — fan count, engagement, style — though some will trade with anyone.
What an SFS post contains
- an image or video (media is optional but strongly recommended);
- promo text (optional, but it is what sells the click);
- tagging — when your partner tags your username (@), you get notified of the post; send them your link so the tag becomes a clickable banner.
How to get a yes
Reach out politely and specifically. Have a short bio ready with the link to your OnlyFans and your main social accounts. Attach a ready-made description of your page — this is the text your partner will post as your shoutout, so make it good.
Send a promo video and a few photos. Some creators post video, most post photos, and some only post SFW images — never try to change the rules the other creator sets.
If they are interested, they will send you their own promo. They have probably already looked at your page, so you will get a final text that fits your feed. Agree on posting time and how long the posts stay up. To avoid mistakes, use OnlyFans’ scheduled posts so both go live at the same moment.
Once the post is up, screenshot the top and bottom of it and send it to your partner; ask them to do the same. Check that the link in their post actually points to your profile.
SFS rules that keep it working
- Trade with equals. A 5,000-fan account and a 500-fan account is not a fair trade, and the bigger one will say no.
- Stay in your niche. Cross-niche shoutouts get views, not subscribers.
- Don’t overdo it. More than 1–2 shoutouts a week turns your feed into an ad board and fans unsubscribe.
- Track results. Use a trial link or promo code per partner so you know who actually sends subscribers.
Collaboration is a core growth lever for most OnlyFans creators — even large accounts still run S4S. How it fits into a full traffic system is covered on our OnlyFans promotion page.
Frequently asked questions
Is SFS free?
Yes, it is an exchange. Paid shoutouts exist too, but those are advertising, not SFS.
How many subscribers does an SFS bring?
Anywhere from a handful to a few dozen per trade, depending on the partner’s audience and how well your page converts. Consistent weekly trades compound.
Where do I find SFS partners?
Creator groups on Telegram and Discord, X, Reddit communities for creators, and direct DMs to accounts in your niche.
